Code twitter What Twitter Can Do For You and Your Business

A number of weeks ago, a good friend turned me on to the social media phenomenon called Twitter. I have to say that I'm not a heavy user of social media and quite honestly don't see the purpose. At least that's what I thought prior to my experience. Three months later my thoughts and feeling have changed rather significantly.

Once I got online and started using Twitter, I better understood the fascination with this seemingly simple tool. It has its own vocabulary, functionality, and many features that you may not know about. Of course, the only way to truly understand Twitter is to read a how to guide, watch a video, or use a third party platform for managing Twitter related activities.

With so many varied interests, its always been a real challenge for me to find like minded individuals who are in to so many of the same things that I am. Twitter has solved this problem for me. Not only can you find others who share similar interests or vocations, but you can follow posts made around a given subject area or topic. This is a good indication of what's being discussed across millions of users. Not only do you have access to individuals sharing the same interests you have, but also celebrities. I never really thought that I would care to have access to what one celeb or another was doing, but it definitely makes people seem more approachable. I've also sent and received Tweets from celebrities, making them seem more human.

Twitter is absolutely fantastic for discovering others who are learning about an area of interest you might have. These individuals often share really good ideas that can help you succeed. This save time and money. In addition to finding others with similar interests, these people also find you. These followers have become a great resource for me as I have questions or want to get a quick pulse on what others are thinking.

The greatest benefit of connecting with other with whom you chose is that you can filter the information and respond when the mood strikes. By using applications that allow you to prioritize Tweets or search for specific conversations, you can quickly see benefit in the information that's being shared. Often times, individuals include links to valuable content and information that they have come across on the web. This is both useful and time consuming when related to a particular need you may have.

I resisted social media at first for a variety of reasons. Now that I have some experience with a tool like Twitter, I believe that I fully understand my initial hesitation. The reason why I didn't use it initially was because I didn't see the point. What I didn't realize was that the only way to get the point of using Twitter was to first use it. Now that I have, I understand and appreciate the value it delivers.

Code twitter Twitter is hot - 7 ways to make it sizzle!

Twitter is a great way to connect with your friends and colleagues. What is Twitter, you ask? It's what's called a micro-blogger, a website where you can post little message of 140 characters or less about what you're doing, and they get broadcast out to anyone that's following you. You're messages can be about anything, but if you're an internet marketer they should be a combination of business and personal ones.

If you're building a web-based business, some of your "tweets" should be business-oriented. For instance, if you post a new entry to your blog, let your twitter followers know. If you're watching a webinar that might be helpful to others, let them know.

At the same time, if you just post business-related activities, people are going to think that's all you care about and you're going to lose them. There's a reason that web 2.0 is called "social networking". It's because you need to be "social", talk about nothing or everything, and let people know who you are. I know, many people are totally wrapped up in their business, to the exclusion of pretty much anything else (including a life), but you need to find something!

Maybe you lost a bunch of weight. Maybe you're an aspiring singer. Maybe you like to bowl, golf, play poker, or walk your dog. Whatever it is, talk about it from time to time. If people realize you're actually a person, they'll be more drawn to you.

You want to be as organized as possible when you're expanding your twitter fan base. Here are 7 guidelines that I've developed to help me.

    1. Follow lots of people. You can follow up to 2000 to start with, and more if you fulfill some criteria set out by twitter (what that criteria is, I'm not exactly sure, but I think it involves how many people are following you). Here's what I did that seemed to work: I found someone that was interested in the same thing that I am, attraction network marketing, and started following the ones he followed. Eventually, I got to 2000 and I couldn't follow any more. What you'll find out is that if you follow those people, a lot of them are going to follow you back. When they do, send them a short message, with a link to your blog.

    2. Follow your followers. Before you know it, people are going to start following you that you didn't follow first. Go ahead and follow them back, and send them a tweet with your blog address in it. If you can't follow any more because you're at the limit, delete a few that don't have pictures and haven't followed you. Those guys probably aren't too serious about Twitter anyway. This brings up my next point.

    3. Personalize your site. Add your picture. Write about yourself, and post a background image. Put your blog or website link on it. Remember, you need to be social - even if you're not!

    4. If you're on Facebook, tie it together with Twitter. If you're not on Facebook, get with it! It's crucial that you're on the most popular social sites, and Facebook is definitely up there in the top 2. When you tie them together, it makes it so that when you send a tweet, it automatically updates the "what are you doing" part of Facebook. By the way, you can find friends on Facebook the same way you did on Twitter.

    5. Try out twhirl. This is a desktop application that displays tweets from others without having to be on the twitter site. You can also post your own tweets there, and more. What I like about this program is that it has a url shortener built into it. If you want to post a long link in one of your tweets, you might run out of space because you can only have posts of 140 characters or less. Using twhirl, you can enter the url into a box and click "shorten" and it will give you a short little link that you can put in your post. Download twhirl at twhirl.com.

    6. Twitterfeed, for blogs. If you have a blog, you might be interested in twitterfeed. This is a website where you can register your blog or blogs, and whenver you make a post it will automatically update twitter. If works off your RSS feed and checks once an hour to see if there are any new posts out there. You can set this up at twitterfeed.com - free!

    7. Sign up for automatic updates from ezinearticles.com. In the profile section of that site, you can put in your twitter username and password and it will automatically set out a tweet when an article you wrote gets approved. Very cool.

Well there are 7 easy ways to increase your presence on the internet by using the power of twitter and a few simple, free tools. Take advantage today, and happy tweeting!
